The VanDykes may or may not be in the process of opening up a brand new wedding venue at a 162 year old historical house on 22 acres of land just outside of Louisville, Kentucky. But what I can say is that Suzy and I spent the last week setting up and staging a stylized wedding at a 162 year old historical house on 22 acres of land just outside of Louisville, Kentucky.
When we started dreaming up this southern plantation shoot, we knew we desired to have the soft elegance of a southern wedding, with a unique edge. You can add new and trendy twists on any venue, even if it’s 162 years old! Our key words were “whimsical” and “eclectic”. With those two words in mind, we decorated and staged each room. We also wanted to tie themes and details into the decor that goes along with what Kentucky is known for, which is why we chose Bourbon balls for the take home favor. We also used wildflowers in the bouquet that you could find taking a stroll through the bluegrass of Kentucky.
This shoot could not have taken place without our amazing vendors!! We would like to thank each and every one from the bottom of our hearts… Amandalin Ryan for coordinating and helping style. Mandy, you are a lifesaver! Sherwood Designs and Events for the lovely flowers. Deborah Lindquist for the gorgeous wedding gown, ladies if you need a wedding dress you need to check her out! Pistol and Stamen for the Adrianna Papell dresses we used as elegant bridesmaid dresses. Pocket Square Clothing for the awesome bow ties, ties and pocket squares. Guys you just don’t get more trendy than this…buy and don’t rent for your wedding, it’s worth it! Faith Hall with Premier Designs for the jewelry. Thanks so much Pam Birt with The Twisted Sifter for loaning us the cakes, and making all the fun cupcakes! Beth King with Karamel Kreations for suppling the Bourbon Ball party favors and Adam Johnson with the Kentucky Distillers Association provided The Bourbon for display. Amanda Habbershaw with Love Creative rocked the invitations and paper goods. Lacey Walker for the awesome job on the hair and makeup, thanks so much for staying all day! And of course we couldn’t have done any of it without our incredible fun and good looking models: Amanda Wallace (bride), Heath Green (groom), Kennedy Sabharwal (bridesmaid), Tori Todd (bridesmaid), Jamason Coles (groomsman) and Skyler Bennett (groomsman). Also a HUGE thank you to Janie Olmstead from Images Talent and Model Agency for doing the casting call and setting us up with everyone! You all Rock!
