Meet Ryan & Emily Strawn, and their adorable kiddos: Owen, Ryder, Molly, & Finn. This beautiful family has carved out a special home in the middle of the city – that feels more like the country – which reminds me that home is wherever you make it. A home filled with love is a happy home! I had so much fun spending time with their family and capturing their love!
Since they have four kids, I asked Ryan & Emily to give me some thoughts for new parents…
We love to have dance parties. Most of the time the kids have WAY better moves than either of us! We enjoy spending time outside in our yard, working in the garden or playing with the chickens. The kids are always excited to plant new things or watch the little tiny sunflower seeds they put into the ground grow up to be huge flowers, taller than the garage. The chickens are one of their favorite things. Ryder feeds them, molly gathers their eggs and owen sells the eggs to the neighbors.
Molly is a riot. She loves to be silly and laugh. She has so many hilarious and amazing expressions in her face that just crack us up! Being the only girl out of 4 kids, she is tough, but still loves anything pink and sparkly, and loves a good twirling dress. She always has her babydolls with her, along with her lightsaber.
Owen is a sweetheart. Ever since he was little he has had a very sweet and tender heart. He has a genuine desire to do whats right. He also gives the best hugs. He puts real love into the hugs he gives, and just make your day great.
Finn is the sweetest (and most ticklish) baby in all the land! We feel so blessed to have him. His sibling just adore him and snuggle and kiss him all day long. He really is the happiest and easiest baby I have met….and those thighs?! Can I say what I love most about him is that he is so squishy?!
Ryan is a great dad. Even after working hard all day he comes home ready to love on us. He is great at finding all sorts of crazy things to do with kids (like making a zipline and attaching mollys swing to it so she can go down it). I love watching him sit and brush Molly’s hair after her bath. He teaches our kids how to work hard and takes the time to have them help him with projects, like changing the oil in the car. It make the job a lot longer…and a lot messier…but he knows it is something they need to learn to do, so he shows them. It makes my heart burst when I see him in our bed all snuggled up with a pile of kids.
Emily, although extremely overworked, underpaid, and underappreciated, almost always “mothers” excellently! She understands and cherishes that every tiny moment is an opportunity to shape our kids into (great) adults. She desires to honor God thru her parenting which includes setting a good example of how a Wife ought to love her Husband. she is my Proverbs 31 Babe from top to bottom.
Ryder is a happy kid. he always has a smile on his face and knows how to put a smile on your face! He is constantly making us laugh and brings joy wherever he goes.
